I’m Bhavna Gakhar, a dog behaviourist and the founder of Kukkur Vachan, a dog behaviour consultancy dedicated to fostering stronger bonds between dogs and their humans. My journey into the world of dog psychology began in 2018 when I became a dog mom to Doodle, a Labrador, and Gullak, an Indie. This life-changing experience deepened my understanding of dogs' emotional and psychological needs, ultimately inspiring me to leave my six-year career in corporate recruitment to pursue a path in dog behaviour. In 2020, I took a significant step by starting home boarding services for dogs, with a special focus on addressing behavioural challenges such as food aggression, anxiety, and resource guarding. During this time, I also completed a course in dog psychology from OhMyDog Academy, Pune, in 2022. This hands-on experience naturally evolved into offering one-on-one dog parenting consultations through Kukkur Vachan, where I share practical insights into dog behaviour, communication, and personality. Over the past four years, I’ve had the privilege of working with over 250 dog parents, helping them build stronger, more joyful relationships with their dogs. At Kukkur Vachan, we believe in treating dogs as family members. Our mission is to empower dog parents with a deep understanding of dog psychology and communication, enabling them to build relationships rooted in trust and respect. We are committed to raising awareness that promotes harmonious coexistence between humans and dogs—contributing to a more compassionate, dog-inclusive society.
