Hi, my name is Kiril Gichevski I currently live in Germany and I am a software developer. Sounds fancy right? Well, it was not always like that. Let me explain. After finishing University, I struggled to find a job in my home country. Somehow I managed to get an internship and started to learn what it means to be a Software developer. Fast forward 2 years, and I decided to move to Germany. I have applied to 297 open positions. Yes, this is the correct number as I have an Excel Sheet tracking all the open positions I have applied to. At this time I didn’t speak German, had barely any skill in Interviewing, and was translating the open positions with Google Translate so I could understand what the position was all about. From this process, I got 3 responses and managed to get 2 job offers. Fast forward 10 years have landed 7 jobs in Germany, got more than 30 offers from around the world, worked at top companies like PwC, Trivago, and huge German corporations like RWE, have made more than 100 interviews, and have interviewed more than 50 people. I have boosted my career multiple times and managed to get big promotions and pay raises. As with everything in life, the key to success is practice. You practice how you do an interview, you practice and plan your promotion, and you practice the process of getting a pay raise. I have learned it the hard way.
