Life for men and women in tech is not the same. In most teams of 10, there’s usually just one woman. I’ve been that woman for most of my career.
It’s not just about knowing the tech. You need to learn soft skills nobody teaches us—how to be assertive without being called bossy, how to build credibility when you’re constantly underestimated, how to break the glass ceiling without breaking yourself in the process.
In my 10+ years in this industry (8 of them at Microsoft, building Microsoft Edge for 300M+ users), I’ve seen a lot—hard projects, tough teams, amazing breakthroughs, frustrating politics. And through it all, my women mentors have been the reason I stayed, grew, and learned how to navigate.
That’s why I want to pay it forward.
