“The beginning of wisdom is the phrase 'I don't know.’” The insight by Data from Star Trek may seem counter-intuitive, but it actually reflects a critical mindset to success in business: curiosity. After my nearly 15 years in analytics and strategy, I have that unique characteristic–the ability to translate a business question into data analysis and from that, execute a strategy. After all, I love solving puzzles. That's why I chose to go into analytics–because it combines the science and art of a business strategy like a puzzle uses shape and color to complete a picture. More important than a puzzle though is the people you do it with. That’s why I am most proud of my work building and leading data teams. From hiring to coaching talent, managing technical teams to drive business results is where I excel. For example, at Brookdale Senior Living I have orchestrated data teams across the enterprise to drive strategic initiatives. At the end of the day though, my favorite job is being a Dad. My son is the reason I want to make a difference in the world for the next generation. He is why I believe in a growth mindset that you are never too young to learn anything. He is why I am a strong advocate for the environment and a plant-based diet. He is why I aim to lead a large company someday - not for my career or even just to make a difference, but also to satisfy my unique mindset: curiosity.
