UK Water–Energy Nexus: Resilience Gap Dashboard
Digital Product

Description

The UK Water–Energy Nexus: Resilience Gap Dashboard is a digital tool designed to quantify climate and infrastructure-related resilience gaps across the interlinked water and energy systems. By integrating climate risk data, infrastructure performance indicators, and socio-economic variables, the dashboard highlights where vulnerabilities may emerge under different future scenarios.

This tool enables policymakers, businesses, and researchers to:

  1. -Assess current resilience gaps in the UK’s water–energy nexus.
  2. -Explore scenario-based impacts of climate change, demand growth, and infrastructure stress.
  3. -Identify priority regions and sectors for investment in resilience planning.
  4. -Support evidence-based decision-making for sustainable resource management.

Assumptions

To keep the dashboard actionable and transparent, the following assumptions underpin the analysis:

  1. -Climate Risk Data: Derived from IPCC CMIP6 scenarios and/or NGFS pathways, downscaled for the UK context.
  2. -Time Horizons: Short- (2025), medium- (2030), and long-term (2050) projections are applied.
  3. -Resilience Indicators: Include water availability, energy security, infrastructure capacity, and interdependence risks.
  4. -Socio-economic Context: Based on UK population growth, industrial demand, and policy targets aligned with net-zero commitments.
  5. -Data Harmonisation: Normalised scoring (e.g., 0–100 risk/resilience scale) ensures comparability across regions and sectors.

✨ The dashboard bridges the gap between climate risk modelling and decision-making, making resilience measurable, comparable, and actionable.

What are people saying

Thank you for the engaging session and the opportunity to be part of Climate Risk: The Next Big Opportunity. I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation, it was insightful and thought-provoking, especially the emphasis on actionable strategies for integrating climate risk into business and policy frameworks. The session was indeed worth the time, and I appreciated the balanced perspective between risk and opportunity in the climate resilience landscape. Looking forward to staying in touch and possibly collaborating in the future.
