I did not graduate from a tier 1 college. I was not a topper too. In fact I was amongst the bottom 20% students with respect to my grades in college Was it difficult being an average student and not being a part of the tier 1 colleges - YES Do I wish I had put in more efforts, did more things in my under 20s - YES Did I give up and accept a life of mediocrity - HELL NO Fresh out of MBA college, I started with a modest salary of 5.5LPA But I worked hard, I took some right decisions, had right people in my life and with some luck have been able to kill it in the past few years. I've 6X'ed my salary in 5 years and was earning ~35LPA. By the end of year 6, I had an offer of 50LPA. And guess what, I did not take it. I instead decided to embark upon my entrepreneurial journey. Within a year I raised a pre-seed round of 2cr and have 11 kickass people as a part of my new business. Now, how did all this happen? First of all, I worked hard. I was the best performer in most companies I worked for Secondly, I made the right choices, upskilled my self and focused on LEARNING. (Never engaged in corporate politics) Instead I switched companies at the right time and gain exponential growth. And the most important of all, I had some very important mentors in my life who helped me make these right decisions. I've realised not everyone are fortunate enough to find these mentors.
