I have been in the IT industry for 22+ years and have seen all side of Layoffs:

1. Getting Laid Off myself.
2. Executed Layoff as per Organization direction.
3. Wanted to get Laid Off but didn't get Laid Off.
4. Got self Laid Off (left a job without an offer which turned to an unplanned year long break).
