Ecosystem Services & Natural Capital in Practice
profile

Participants work through a real for Environmental Services (PES) case and then complete a team-based decision lab for a proposed eco-resort and food-processing investment near a tropical wetland. They identify dependencies and impacts, select indicators, perform a simplified ecosystem-service valuation, compare development alternatives and defend a nature-positive recommendation.

The session uses the Natural Capital Protocol logic - Frame, Scope, Measure & Value, Apply - and links business assessment with the UN System of Environmental-Economic Accounting - Ecosystem Accounting (SEEA EA). Monetary valuation is treated as one input, not as a substitute for ecological limits, community values or rights.
