Psychological counselling is a form of therapy that helps people who are struggling with their emotions, relationships, and behaviours. It is commonly provided by psychologists, mental health professionals, social workers, and certain other licensed professionals who are trained to assess, diagnose, and treat individuals in distress. There are several types of psychological counselling available, and the type of therapy that is best for a particular client depends on the individual's needs.
Adult counselling focuses on struggles and conflicts that arise in adulthood, such as relationship issues, anxiety, depression, and work-life balance. It can be used to address mental and emotional struggles, or to develop strategies to reach specific goals or improve current circumstances.
Adolescent counselling helps adolescents and young adults who are facing difficulties with school, relationships, and/or family. There may also be an emphasis on helping teens and young adults find ways to build a secure identity, create a strong sense of self-worth, and form healthy relationships.
Family therapy can help families deal with interpersonal issues within a group setting. Through therapy, family members learn to communicate in a supportive and effective manner and help each other find solutions to common challenges, such as parenting, understanding new relationships, and moving on from conflicts.
Self-improvement counselling focuses on helping individuals reach their personal goals. It involves helping the individual learn about themselves, clarify and set new goals, identify obstacles and strategies for overcoming those obstacles, and create a plan for monitoring and evaluating progress.
Mental peace counselling focuses on developing skills for dealing with stress, such as mindful thinking, and learning to incorporate healthy lifestyle habits. Mental peace counselling also helps individuals understand the connections between physical and mental health and wellbeing, as well as explore new ways of managing stress, anxiety, and other negative emotions.
