About me
Hello! I’m Gayatri Poddar, currently working as a Data Scientist at Optum (UnitedHealth Group) in Dublin, Ireland.
My professional journey began in 2017, right after completing my undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering. I started as an intern at Sears India, where I gained valuable insights into the U.S. retail industry. After five months, I transitioned into a full-time role at Barclays as an Automation Engineer, and later advanced to a role of Business Analyst- Quality Engineering. This role allowed me to delve deeper into the financial services sector, particularly focusing on Cards and Payments across both the UK and Barclaycard US businesses.
After spending nearly 3.5 years in the Cards and Payments domain, I decided to pursue a Master's to deepen my analytics expertise. I secured admission to the MSc in Business Analytics program at the prestigious Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School in Dublin for the 2021–22 cohort, just as the pandemic restrictions were easing.
During my Master’s, I received multiple job offers and chose to join the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA) as a Data Analyst at the State Claims Agency. This role provided me with a unique opportunity to contribute to and learn from the public sector.
Most recently, in April 2025, I transitioned into my current role at Optum, where I work at the intersection of data science and U.S. healthcare.
With over 6.5 years of diverse professional experience and a Master’s degree in Business Analytics, I bring a multifaceted perspective to every challenge. Originally from Pune, Maharashtra, India, I’m passionate about sharing knowledge, supporting career growth, and learning from others along the way.
