About me
Dr. Fethi Filali serves as the Director of Technology & Research at the Qatar Mobility Innovations Center (QMIC), where he plays a key role in shaping the future of QMIC's data and AI-driven technology and products. Leveraging his deep understanding of artificial intelligence, including generative AI, as well as geospatial data analytics, internet of things, blockchain, embedded sensing, and scalable distributed algorithms, he contributes significantly to strategic research efforts and the development of innovative products.
Throughout his career, Dr. Filali has been instrumental in developing technologies that enhance QMIC’s leading-edge products, benefiting sectors such as smart cities, connected and automated mobility, intelligent transportation systems, energy & environment, and security & defense. His work has had a substantial impact, contributing to the success of projects with multi-million dollar implications.
Dr. Filali, who graduated from the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, France, with a Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2002 and a Habilitation degree in 2008, has had a fruitful career in both academia and industry. Before joining QMIC in 2010, he dedicated eight years to the Mobile Communications department at EURECOM, France, progressing from Assistant to Associate Professor.
His contributions have not gone unnoticed, earning him over 20 awards from prestigious organizations such as the European Commission, The French National Research Agency, and the Qatar National Research Fund. As a mentor, he has guided ten Ph.D. students through their research in fields like intelligent transportation and big data analytics, among others.
Dr. Filali has made significant research contributions, with more than 150 papers published in leading international conferences and journals, and he has also been involved in filing more than 10 patent applications. His work stands as a testament to his commitment to advancing technology for the good of society.
