I am the Director of AI Development at OraQ AI, a company that develops innovative diagnostic, prognostic, and treatment plan recommendation support systems for dentistry. I have a PhD in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence from the University of Sussex, UK, and over 10 years of experience in leading research projects, developing neurotechnology, and applying AI to analyze and understand multivariate data to solve real world problems. In my role at OraQ AI, I provide strategic direction for the AI and data science initiatives. I also directly contribute to the design, development, testing and monitoring AI/ML models that we use in our data pipelines. I lead code reviews, deploy models in production, and produce valuable system code documentation. I have extensive experience in MLOps, Machine Learning, Artificial Neural Networks, and Computer Vision techniques. In addition to my work at OraQAI, I am an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Lethbridge. In this role, I am interested in research projects at the intersection between Neuroscience and AI. In these projects, I leverage my expertise in computational neuroscience and AI to understand how the brain works but also how AI could benefit from what we know about the brain. By doing this, I aim to develop solutions that improve the quality of life and health outcomes of patients. Finally, I am passionate about mentorship and community building. I strongly believe in fostering opportunities and community support for the less represented people in STEM. I volunteer in related hackathons, mentorship programs and community building activities.
