Dwishojoyee is a young individual working towards climate actionism, moving people from action talking to action taking in the climate space. She is an aspiring economist, studying at Ramjas, University of Delhi. The Paper Bag project, by the soft movement, enables school students to come together to upcycle newspapers and make paper bags for distributing it free of cost to small vendors like flower sellers in India, who haven't been able to switch to sustainable alternatives despite the ban on single use plastic bags. So far it has reached over 5000 students in 31 cities via our 70+ member team and have replaced 100,000+ single use plastic bags. She is an Ashoka young changemaker, a BeVisioneers-Mercedes Benz fellow and has worked with organisations such as World Economic Forum, Save the Children and UNICEF. Her changemaking journey seemed to take root at a tender age of four, when a question emerged: why was the soap named "Life Buoy" and not "Life Human"? This seemingly innocuous query, arising from a misreading of the word "buoy," marked the inception of their lifelong commitment to making a difference. Through her school years, volunteering became a constant companion. By the age of ten, she embarked on the path of teaching, dedicating their time and knowledge to children in their parents' organisation, Kahaanighar. This early experience imprinted upon her the understanding that social work was not merely an optional embellishment but the very essence. Throughout various stages of her life, they diligently baked and iced different layers onto her changemaking cake. Her current endeavour is the establishment of "The Soft Movement," an organisation meticulously crafted to transform people's relationship with activism. This organisation, in contrast to the clamorous and ephemeral nature of many movements, focuses on creating tangible, grassroots impact for climate action. The name "The Soft Movement" symbolises their approach: gentle, gradual, and sustainable. Rather than clamouring for attention, it seeks to instigate a quiet but enduring change—a change that is slow, persistent, and, ultimately, permanent.
