Building the future of diagnostics in dentistry. I am working towards standardising diagnosis, treatment planning, and improved patient outcomes as a norm in the dental industry. By leveraging AI/ML technology, I aim to improve the quality and speed of diagnosis, in turn facilitating high-quality treatment within a highly fragmented ecosystem. Having founded Vi-Scan Diagnostics, the largest chain of dental diagnostic centres in India, and scanned over 1 lakh patients over the last couple of years, my passion lies in improving treatment outcomes and creating a positive impact on the quality of life for patients suffering from dental disease. Prior to Vi-Scan, I was in the dental implant industry for almost 6 years; this helped me gain grassroots-level insight into the actual challenges that dentists and patients face due to a lack of diagnostic support. It also connected me with over 1 lakh dentists and potential customers. My work to date is the result of one patient's cry for help during a medico-legal battle with one of India's top dentists; the 65-year-old patient lost taste sensation following dental implant surgery. It was a combination of negligence and lack of visibility. No diagnostic procedure was suggested or carried out prior to execution. I feel a deep sense of responsibility and see a huge opportunity in the dental diagnostic space. With the dental services industry growing at over 20% CAGR, most dental start-ups are investing in the delivery of dental health care. We, however, are invested in providing the right diagnostic information. Be it standalone dentists or the massive chains that are emerging in India, every dentist needs visibility and a guideline to provide the best level of care. We are now looking to scale our business via equity dilution, unlocking its true value for all stakeholders involved, from patients to investors. I have completed my bachelor's in dentistry from R.V. Dental College with a distinction in oral and maxillofacial surgery. During my career, I completed an executive programme in business management from IIM Bangalore, where, to my surprise, I was a straight-A student! This gave me the skill set and motivation to create my own start-up. A message to my colleagues and dear dentists: 'Sometimes you make the right decision, sometimes you make the decision right.'
