Academia to Industry Transition Call

This 1:1 session is for MSc students, PhD students, researchers and early career professionals who want to move from academia into industry but are unsure how to position themselves.

The transition from academia to industry can feel confusing because academic achievements do not always translate directly into industry language. You may have research experience, technical skills, publications, projects or lab experience, but still be unsure which roles to target or how to present your background confidently.

In this session, we can work on:

• understanding suitable industry roles for your background

• identifying transferable skills from your research experience

• translating academic work into industry-friendly language

• improving your CV and LinkedIn positioning

• discussing how to present projects, publications and technical skills

• understanding what companies may look for in early career candidates

• preparing for applications and interviews

• creating a practical next-step plan for your industry transition

This session is especially useful if you are completing a master’s or PhD, finishing a research role, or considering a move away from academia but do not know where to begin.

By the end of the call, you should have a clearer understanding of your industry options, how to position your experience and what steps to take next.
