About me
My curiosity and passion for science took me to the path of my Ph.D. journey. The journey began in 2018 when I joined the CSIR Institute of Microbial Technology as a junior research fellow. My entire research career revolved around the problem of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). I worked on various aspects of AMR, starting from small molecule antimicrobial compounds, antimicrobial peptides, and antibiotic adjuvants, especially efflux pump inhibitors. More particularly, my thesis research focussed on "Exploration and evaluation of novel multi-drug resistance inhibitors to target ESKAPE pathogens." I worked on screening and identification of efflux pump inhibitors from FDA-approved drug libraries and small molecule chemical libraries. During my doctoral studies, I demonstrated a strong aptitude for cross-disciplinary research, encompassing diverse techniques such as the purification of microbe metabolites, in vitro screening of FDA-approved drug libraries and small molecules, in vivo efficacy, survival, toxicity studies in mice and C. elegans infection models, cell culture, gene expression studies and analysis, and biophysical studies. I embraced the challenge of working on multi-drug-resistant bacterial infections, which has become a critical concern in global healthcare. Besides that, I developed skills in project management and scientific writing. My top favorite skills are scientific article writing and patent draft writing.
In addition to my extensive laboratory work, I have been actively engaged in academic presentations, conferences, and manuscript preparation. My publication record includes articles in reputed peer-reviewed journals, and I have contributed to two patent applications for the EPI-drug combination developed during my research. My proficiency in maintaining a collaborative and stimulating research environment, combined with my passion for tackling the global antimicrobial resistance crisis, fuels my enthusiasm to contribute towards providing new solutions to the problem of AMR. I have been continuously upgrading my skills and working on acquiring Next Generation Sequencing analysis lately.
Currently, I am looking for Postdoctoral Fellow roles in the field of Antimicrobial drug discovery and am passionate about investing my expertise to find new solutions to the problem of AMR.
