What’s inside (10 tabs)
1. Summary dashboard
Pick a month and year, and everything updates.
- This month: gross income, net income, expenses, surplus, savings rate, deductions and charges, budget used and budget left.
- Year to date (YTD): gross and net income, expenses, surplus, average monthly income and spending, YTD savings rate and YTD budget used. Choose an April start (Indian financial year) or a January start (calendar year)
- Wealth snapshot: emergency fund (with months of expenses covered), total savings, investments, total debt, monthly EMIs, credit card dues, investment gain or loss and net worth.
- Budget vs actual for 12 categories, for the month and year to date, with progress bars and Over budget / On track flags.
- Monthly trend table for 12 months and a savings goals progress table.
- Charts: spending by category (pie), budget vs actual (bar), net income vs expenses by month (bar) and where your gross income went (pie).
2. Salary: gross to net
Enter basic, HRA, other allowances and bonus. Then record Employee PF, ESI, Professional Tax, LWF, taxes and other deductions. Gross, total deductions and net salary are calculated for you. There is also a memo column for employer PF, which feeds your provident fund balance on the Net Worth tab.
3. Other Income
For freelance work, business income, digital product sales, interest and rent. Record the gross amount, then the payment gateway charges, commission or platform fee, TDS and other deductions. Net received is calculated.
4. Expenses
Log spending by date, description, category and payment mode (UPI, credit card, debit card, cash, net banking). Dropdown menus keep entries quick and tidy.
5. Savings Goals
Set a target and a date. See a progress bar, the amount remaining, months left and how much you need to save each month.
6. Debts
- Loans: enter the principal, interest rate, number of instalments, first EMI date and instalments paid. The sheet works out your EMI, instalments left, total interest payable, total amount payable, principal outstanding, interest paid so far, next EMI due date and a repayment progress bar.
- Credit cards: track the credit limit, statement date, due date, statement amount, minimum due, interest charged, late fee or penalty and amount paid. You get the outstanding amount, limit used (with a progress bar), days to due date and a status: Paid, Due in X days or Overdue.
- Two charts show loans repaid vs outstanding and the mix of loans vs card dues.
7. Investments
List stocks, mutual funds, ETFs, gold, FDs, PPF/NPS and crypto. See invested amount, current value, profit or loss, return % and portfolio weight for each holding, plus monthly SIPs. A summary by type, an allocation pie chart and a bar chart show your portfolio at a glance. Prices can be entered manually. Excel for Microsoft 365 users can also use live prices for stocks.
8. Net Worth
- Today’s position: assets (cash, investments, provident fund, other assets) minus liabilities (loans, card dues, other), with a debt-to-asset ratio.
- Month-end history: record your figures each month and see your change in rupees and in percent.
- Charts show your net worth trend, assets vs liabilities and your asset mix.
9. Setup
Rename categories, set budgets and edit the dropdown lists.
