❌ "I interview for practice"
❌ "I remember when I would interview with x companies and get x offer$, now I only get x interviews, and win y amount of offers"
my challenge for people with this mentality (sdr to ceo)
"where is the trophy for time away from your ...?
current gig
kids
partner
hobbies
pets
friends
interviewing should NOT be for practice
there is no positive in thinking "everyone used to interview me, now I only get a few interviews”
NEWS FLASH
most people can only take one job
🎯 spending countless hours interviewing, with no intention is not a prize to win
Mistakes:
❌ sending a badly formatted, no value resumes in, just to get asked questions that SHOULD already be on there - is NOT a good idea
❌ having the mentality that interviewing is for practice, and its okay to ask the same self serving questions EVERYONE and their mom asks (what is quota, what are benefits, how many reps meet quota) without adding value, or context around what you know (or asking the right type of questions, to the RIGHT person in the recruiting life cycle)- is NOT a good idea
❌ taking just ANY interview, and not being intentional about the buyer you are selling into, and the problems you are solving for them- is NOT a good idea
❌ interviewing and not paying attention to the data (if you are interviewing with one company, why not seek out their competitors) so you can get the BIGGE$T bag for your value- is NOT a good idea
❌ if you are interviewing, and not doing the MOST to show you are the hungriest person for the job (GOOD value based presentations like day zero-120 success plan, drip campaigns, building prospecting lists) - then this is NOT a good idea and it can cost you some coin
so many people are in a REACITVE STATE
applying to jobs as they open up vs intentionally engaging ✅
seeing jobs as "just another saas gig" instead of about the buyer ✅
answering questions they are asked as is, vs bringing value and asking for the high level insight ✅
Whatever you are working towards, you may need receipts & coaching
❌ Not getting enough interviews to build an adequate pipeline of op$? (resume review, and proactively building out lists of companies BEFORE they hire is ideal) proactive vs reactive job searching
❌ Struggling to really SELL yourself in those calls? (how to do you answer the “tell me about yourself pitch” or ask questions that bring VALUE? To set yourself apart from every other rep
❌ Getting passed on in finals with the CRO? or at Demo stage? Looking to make the tiny changes in delivery and presentation to help you WIN?
❌ Looking to land a sexy gig and need in depth behavioral interview prep? (how to answer those “tell me about a time” questions using the STARLT method)
❌ Not finding enough openings that hit your skill set? (I will teach you how to use Boolean strings to reverse engineer the types of spaces and problems you want to solve using key words to find your ideal companies or leaders to work with, or problems you like to solve, with the right types of buyers
✅ Wanting to get excited and hopeful about your search again?
✅ Curious how approach decision makers (and who to approach- with templates) what messaging to use, how to follow up in a way that SHOWS you know how to sell (teaching them something, articles, blogs, events, podcasts, communities, data visuals) then have someone keep you accountable to go to their biggest competition and interview their too for more money
✅ Want to build your process, your scripts, your approach so you can copy and paste, and get your bag (with less interviews, and more intention)
