Invitation letter for VISA

A lot of you asked how I applied for my mum’s UK visa on my own and yes, without an agent, without paying someone to “just upload documents”, and without losing my mind (mostly).

So here’s exactly what I did 👇

Step 1: A solid invitation letter

I started with an invitation letter from my university and my work. This clearly stated:

– Who I am

– My visa status in the UK

– Why my mum is visiting

– How long she’ll stay

I attached proof alongside it, not just words.

That included my CAS, degree certificate, transcript, and my graduation date details. The goal is simple: no loose ends.

Step 2: A detailed travel itinerary

I created a proper itinerary document.

Where we’ll travel, approximate dates, cities, and the intention behind the trip. Nothing fancy, just clear and logical. Visa officers love clarity, not drama.

Step 3: Financial proof (very important)

I attached bank statements for:

– Me

– My mum

– My dad

This shows collective financial stability and answers the unspoken question: “Who is funding this trip?” before they even ask it.

Step 4: Accommodation proof

I clearly stated that my mum would be staying with me.

Attached my rent agreement and address details. This removes any doubt about where she’ll live during her stay.

Step 5: A strong cover letter

I wrote a simple, honest cover letter explaining:

– Our relationship

– Purpose of visit

– Duration of stay

– Assurance of return

Extra tips that really matter

– Keep names, dates, and spellings consistent across all documents

– Combine documents neatly, clearly labelled

– Don’t overcomplicate. If something is true, state it simply

– Avoid unnecessary documents that confuse more than help

You don’t need an agent.

If you’re a student or working professional in the UK and planning to invite your parents, this is completely doable on your own.
