GSoC / LFX Application Strategy ⚡

You've decided to apply for GSoC or LFX. Now you need the playbook - from someone who cracked LFX as a mentee and now mentors on the other side.

Who it's for: Students serious about cracking GSoC or LFX in the next cycle. You've made the decision, you have time to prepare, and you want to maximize your shot.

Best time to book: 4-8 weeks before application deadlines. Earlier is better. If the deadline is in 5 days, this won't save you - book honestly.

My background: I cracked LFX as a mentee in 2025, contributed to a major CNCF project, and used that to land my SRE role. Now I'm an LFX Mentor with the Linux Foundation and GSoC Mentor with OWASP BLT. I've reviewed proposals from both sides - applicant and selector.
