What this is

Most people don't miss out because they lack ability. They miss out because their CV follows the wrong conventions for the UK market, they're applying for the wrong level, and their written application ignores what the employer actually asked for. This package addresses all three, in the order that makes sense.

Across three sessions we build the materials and the judgement. You come away with a curated shortlist of live roles matched to your background, a CV that holds up to UK shortlisting, and a written application method you can reuse for every role you go for afterwards.

How we work together

I develop the materials and coach the method. After the strategy session I send you a shortlist of live roles matched to your targets, so you can see the selection criteria applied in practice rather than just described. Beyond that shortlist you run your own search and submit your own applications — I don't apply on your behalf or guarantee outcomes. The work stays yours; what I provide is structure, an expert eye, and the honest feedback most applicants never get.

What's included

1. Strategy and role targeting — 45 minutes

We start before the CV, not with it. We map your background, qualifications and constraints — including visa status, experience gaps and geography — against the UK job market, and work out which role families and levels are realistically open to you now, and which open up after twelve months in post. We cover where roles in your field are actually advertised and how recruitment differs between sectors: public sector application forms with scored person specifications, private sector CV-and-cover-letter screening, charity and academic routes. You'll learn to decode a job advert and judge a match before investing hours in an application.

2. Curated role shortlist — sent within 5 working days

Following the strategy session I send you a written shortlist of 8–10 live vacancies matched to your target list, with a note on why each one fits and what to emphasise if you apply. This is a one-off shortlist designed to calibrate your own searching — you'll have the criteria, the sources and the worked examples to continue independently.

3. CV development — 30 minutes

Your CV rebuilt against those targets. UK formatting conventions, evidence that withstands scrutiny at interview, and a structure aligned to how recruiters and shortlisting panels actually read. We work through what to lead with, what to cut, and how to present training, projects and career gaps honestly without undermining yourself. Claims that can't be defended get removed — an unexplained percentage on a CV is a liability, not an asset. Where your targets span sectors, we build a base CV plus the variants you'll need.

4. Supporting statement and written application design — 30 minutes

The written application is where most candidates are filtered out, and it's the part that differs most from what people are used to elsewhere. We take a real job description and map your evidence against every essential and desirable criterion using my Evidence Checklist, so a scorer can find it without hunting. The same method adapts to cover letters and free-text application fields. You learn the method, not just get one document — the point is that you can do it yourself for the next twenty applications.

Candidates applying for roles in the UK who want the recruitment system explained properly by someone who has sat on the hiring side of it. Equally suited to international candidates new to UK conventions, career changers moving between sectors, and graduates making a first professional move.

Scope

This package covers role targeting, one curated shortlist, CV development and written evidence, up to the point of submission. It does not include ongoing job searching beyond that shortlist, technical assessments, coding or software tests, or role-specific take-home tasks. It is not an application-submission service and does not include visa or immigration advice.

How it runs

Sessions are booked individually within 60 days of purchase, so you can pace them around live deadlines. The shortlist follows the strategy session. Materials and written feedback are yours to keep.
