Roadmap to Becoming & Standing out as Data Analyst

My journey from searching on YouTube "How to become a Data Analyst" to landing a job in this competitive market of 2024

It all started when I was in my third year of ENGINEERING

I realized I couldn't make a DREAM career in this field

Without telling anyone, I decided to take a BIG risk to become a Data Analyst

And I SEARCHED for it on YouTube

While scrolling, my BRAIN was doing its work

Ayan, what if you realize in the future it was the WRONG choice?

Will you be able to handle the PRESSURE?

My brain did its work and I did MINE

The decision was FINAL

Excel was EASY for me and then I came across SQL

It was the most DIFFICULT thing for me to learn

I learned SQL twice and FAILED

On my THIRD attempt, I changed my strategy

Now, I say SQL is my LOVE language and I use it to SEDUCE the databases

I came across Power BI and I loved this MASTERPIECE

And I was already GOOD at Python

While learning every tool, I was utilizing all my learnings in creating PERSONAL projects

I was READY to get a job offer

Then I came across DOMAIN KNOWLEDGE

In order to get a Data Analyst job, YOU need domain knowledge

Because YOU are going to solve a business problem for a company

I was worried because as an engineering student from WHERE would I learn business acumen?

I messaged a lot of EXPERIENCED people

And got to know that building projects is the BEST way

I was like "WHAT!?"

I have already built so many projects then why do I still NOT have domain knowledge?

From my personal experience, you can BOOST your existing domain knowledge using projects

But you can't give BIRTH to business understanding within yourself

Later, I figured out a GREAT source of domain knowledge

And building the domain knowledge was the BEST decision of my learning journey

I used it as a SUPERPOWER to stand out in the crowd and win the interviews

Later, I realized you should also know which is the BEST industry domain for you to make the job search easier

It was very DIFFICULT for me to figure out how to know which is the best fit industry domain for me

My whole journey was very UNORGANIZED

Because all the things that I should be aware of from the very BEGINNING

Were coming across me at the END of my journey

Because of this I had to keep DELAYING my job search every time

Here, I'm not talking about the technical tools ONLY

But the UNTOUCHED topics like networking, portfolio, industry-specific projects, online presence, domain knowledge, and many more

That aren't explored in DETAIL in the YouTube videos

After receiving so much DMs asking about the ROADMAP

I have decided to HELP beginner Data Analysts

With the help of 1:1 ROADMAP sessions

This won't be a NORMAL roadmap

But this is a roadmap to BECOMING & STANDING OUT as a Data Analyst
