System design interviews can feel intimidating, especially when the question is unfamiliar and you don’t know how to structure your thoughts.

This document shares a practical framework I built from my own interview experiences, observations, mistakes, and learnings over the years. Instead of memorizing random architectures, the focus is on developing a structured approach to think clearly, manage time, communicate trade-offs, and handle unknown questions confidently.

It also includes common mistakes candidates make and how expectations evolve for senior roles.
