About me

I’m Avi Mittal, an Dog Behaviourist with Kukkur Vachan, a consultancy devoted to nurturing deeper, more harmonious relationships between dogs and their humans. My journey into dog psychology began in 2023 when I welcomed Ringo, a Shiba Inu, into my life—and a year later, Yuzu, another Shiba. Becoming a dog parent transformed my perspective, revealing the emotional and psychological depth of dogs. This experience inspired me to transition from my five-year career as an architect in the construction industry to the world of canine behaviour. I first delved into canine nutrition to address my dog’s allergies, a challenge that opened my eyes to the intricate connection between diet and wellbeing. Alongside this, I began studying dog psychology and behaviour, deepening my understanding of how physical health and emotional needs intertwine in shaping a dog’s life. To improve my understanding of dogs, I began studying under Bhavna Gakhar, founder of Kukkur Vachan in 2024, I started volunteering in individual and group sessions in 2025 and also started offering online consultations to help dog parents strengthen communication and trust with their companions. Over the past three years, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Bhavna and supporting countless dog families—helping them build joyful, respectful bonds rooted in empathy and understanding. At Kukkur Vachan, we believe dogs are family. Our mission is to empower dog parents with knowledge of canine psychology and communication, fostering relationships built on trust and respect. We are committed to raising awareness that encourages coexistence between humans and dogs, contributing to a more compassionate, dog-inclusive society. Our philosophy rests on three pillars: Learn, Lead, and Live—guiding dog parents to evolve into the kind of guardians their dogs truly deserve.
