I often have experienced that new people joining systems and product teams, especially hardware products like Routers, Switches, Servers are not sure about what to expect.

The technology used in these areas looks very simple compared to other areas in Software Development like Web Apps, Mobile Apps, Backend servers, etc.

After spending a considerable amount of time and going through the same myriad of questions I believe I can shed some light on what is expected from an individual joining such teams and how to evolve, grow and excel.

It is hard to find folks from this background and I would be happy to share my experience and tips to anyone interested.
