Hi everyone, I’m Ashish and I’m a consultant orthopaedic surgeon in the NHS. I’m also the founder of Doclinks UK, a platform that helps Orthopaedic surgeons to navigate their career paths in the UK so as to reach their full potential. I came to the NHS 10 years ago as an international medical graduate myself, and I faced many challenges and obstacles along the way. There were very few places to seek help or guidance from people who understood my situation and could offer me advice or support. I had to go through a lot of resources and literature to find ways of progressing in my career, and I made some costly mistakes that delayed my goal of becoming a consultant in the NHS. Having experienced all these difficulties, I decided to set up this platform to help others who are in the same boat as I was. I wanted to create a community where surgeons who are not in a training programme get personalized support and guidance. I wanted to prevent them from making the same mistakes that I did, and help them achieve their potential faster and easier. I myself achieved specialist registration via portfolio pathway in orthopaedics, and I’m very keen to guide people on alternative ways to reach specialist registration, which makes them eligible for consultant level jobs.
