About me
Ashima, a registered advocate and social entrepreneur, is committed to strengthening the social ecosystem to provide equitable opportunities for all.
After a successful career as a corporate and securities lawyer at Khaitan & Co, Ashima made a transition to the policy sector. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she worked as a fellow for Teach for India in a low-income community in New Delhi. For her exemplary work as an educator and changemaker, Ashima was selected as one of the top 12 teachers in India in 2021 to represent the country at the United Nations.
Ashima co-founded #HumHongeKaamayaab, a not-for-profit organization that leverages digital health-tech solutions to vulnerable communities. In 2021, #HHK impacted more than 75,000 individuals across 13 states, and Ashima was nominated for India’s COVID Soldier Award 2021. Her work has garnered global recognition from organizations such as the Sabin Vaccine Institute, Max India Foundation, The Better India, and NGO Story, amongst others.
Ashima also co-founded Policy Lite., a social enterprise that supports community members in accessing welfare benefits for education and health through a network of educators.
Ashima's commitment to environmental sustainability is evident from her participation as a youth delegate at the UNFCCC COP27 in Egypt in 2022 and her involvement in key panel discussions organized by UNFCCC, UNESCO, and UNEP. She serves as the Executive Director of the Future Climate Leaders' Program, a joint initiative of Evergreen Story and The Energy and Resources Institute, which aims to educate and train young students in India to develop green skills and knowledge for a sustainable future.
Additionally, Ashima offers a learning course to college students and young professionals to provide them with the basics of public policy and careers in the policy and governance sector.
