OOPS Fundamentals and Low-Level Design Handbook

Main Objective

My main objective is to explain the real-time usage of OOPS concepts in ABAP. This handbook focuses heavily on Low-Level Design (LLD) in ABAP—an area that is not widely discussed in the ABAP community. I want to increase awareness of these concepts to help improve overall code quality.

This handbook is best suited for people who already know the basic OOPS concepts and syntax but are unsure how to apply them effectively in ABAP coding. I have also included a crisp overview of the core OOPS fundamentals so readers can quickly revisit them before diving deeper into LLD.

The handbook is divided into two parts:

Prerequisites / Basic OOPS:This section covers essential OOPS concepts and their real-time usage in ABAP/RAP. The focus is on practical characteristics and how they are used—not on syntax or “what is what.”
LLD, SOLID Principles, and Design Patterns:This section explains advanced topics, emphasizing real-time applicability in ABAP. I have done my best to illustrate these concepts with ABAP-friendly examples. All examples are provided as code snippets or UML/class diagrams rather than full code implementations.

Please note that this is a handbook. It is mainly written based on real-time use cases of OOPS in ABAP. It does not explain basic syntax or introductory concepts. Instead, it is intended for people who already know the basics of OOPS and want to understand how to apply them effectively in ABAP, especially for advanced topics such as SOLID principles and design patterns.

All topics are supported with examples from ABAP and real-world scenarios, provided in the form of code snippets or UML/class diagrams, not full-length code.
