I am a software engineer with over three years of experience in front-end and full-stack web development. I recently earned a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. I am passionate about both web development and data engineering. While these fields are diverse, I understand their importance in the industry and how they benefit society. A user-friendly website is crucial for connecting users to products and services, and the vast amount of raw data available helps us make these products and services more efficient and innovative. Engineering and utilizing data to extract relevant information is vital. I honed my web development skills at redBus, where I worked as a Senior Software Engineer. I was responsible for the development and enhancement of the mobile website for India initially, and later for the Latin American mobile websites. I further developed my skills through research assistantships at UMass Amherst and an internship at Microsoft. My introduction to big data came during an internship at Publicis Sapient, where I contributed to transforming raw data to useful information. Later, at redBus, I worked on visualizing, identifying, analyzing and debugging issues in Elastic Logstash and Kibana gaining data visualization and analytical skills. Further, I decided to pursue a Master's in Computer Science with a concentration in data science, where I took courses like Machine Learning, Database Design and Implementation, Information Retrieval, and Systems for Data Science. I also held a leadership position for the Voices of Data Science conference providing a platform for underrepresented communities to connect, learn and share their experiences in data science. Some of the soft skills that have always helped me include a strong eagerness to learn, effective collaboration, and a passion for using technology to improve people's lives. My willingness to learn has consistently helped me gain knowledge and improve my technical skills, allowing me to build better or new products for society. Collaborating with others has enriched my experience by exposing me to diverse perspectives and creating a fun, team-oriented environment. I believe that software is not just about writing code; it's about understanding user needs and crafting solutions that enhance their lives.
