About me

An engineer at heart, my long-term goal is to work on research associated with finding technological advancements for neurological diseases like epilepsy. A med-tech enthusiast, I look forward to working in the area of neural signal processing and medical instrumentation. Currently, I am working at Neurosity as a Senior Electrical Engineer. Here I work towards building a new version of the Crown and scaling up present manufacturing facilities and building testcases to bring in more efficiency in production. As an employee at a small scale startup I also end up learning and doing things well beyond my JD such as packaging and shipping and testing new integrations. I completed my graduate studies at Carnegie Mellon University (Masters in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a focus on neuroscience) . My coursework included- Neural Engineering laboratory, Neural Data Analysis, Neural Signal Processing, Brain-computer Interfaces, Advanced Analog Circuit design, Cellular Neuroscience, Machine learning for Signal Processing and Biomedical Imaging. I also took courses in Enterpreneurship and Game theory. During Summer 2022 I completed an internship with Neuropace a medical device company that makes brain implants for responsive neurostimulation and this is the only FDA-approved epilepsy device that provides personalized treatment for epilepsy patients. I worked with the Electrical Engineering division and the development team to build and test project prototypes. I led an effort to build an automated system to program the device in different modes and check current measurements and battery drain. I also helped in failure analysis for the devices that were found to have faults during production or on the field. In my free time, I love tinkering with Hardware and designing circuits. As a person with epilepsy, I am also an advocate for epilepsy awareness. It's been an interesting journey so far! I am still the little girl who believes she can change the world 🌍 Accept.Believe.Conquer. Read my story here- https://www.diaryofavi.com/
