About me
As clueless as nobody ever before, my zeal to accomplish big things was accompanied with mind-boggling confusion about how to do so. When asked in sixth grade what I wanted to pursue, I had no answer. I assumed I would figure it out before graduation, but in high school, I was equally clueless.
Nonetheless, I chose to graduate in Bio Sciences, subjects like Microbiology and stuff, sounds cool but by the time I graduated, I knew my place was elsewhere. Finally, when I had my back against the wall, I started to dig deep within myself to find my true purpose. While all endeavours to earn money and get rich looked futile, I realized my true calling was in the military, which I had been fascinated with since childhood. As soon as I graduated I decided to dedicate a year to accomplishing that with no plan B. Are you kidding me? You don't think of Plan B & C when you can see your destiny.
Long story short, I couldn't get in. Heartbroken and with no plans to fall back on, I started to go for walk-in interviews. Weirdly, I got selected in all 4 companies I went to. Something the army interview preparations had to do with? Maybe. This way I landed my first job in Dell into the Accounts department. Still clueless, did that for about 1.5 years and then miraculously got into the Digital Transformation team as a Product Specialist through an IJP. Got promoted to Product Analyst / Associate Product Manager position within a year, pretty sure my manager was biased towards me. Gradually found my interests aligning towards Project Management and was able to achieve the position of an Associate Project Manager in a year's time.
This is when I magically received this interview invitation on my LinkedIn personal chat from this company called 'CrowdStrike' (never heard of until then). As usual I read all about it and prepared well. The interviews were a cake-walk and they selected me for the role of a Program Manager. But you are right, let me not sound so magical about it. I did have to do an MBA before I could get this interview.
In CrowdStrike, we stop breaches and protect organizations from cyberthreats. But, hold on a second. Isn’t that what I set out to do in the beginning? Security and protecting the vulnerable was always my calling. Just never realised this is how I could do it. Now I manage projects that empower my company to stop breaches. And on the side I talk to individuals who are starting out just like I did, probably confused about their goals and true calling, and together, achieve clarity. So, if you are looking for some perspective, feel free to ping me.
