A Decade In: The Good, the Bad, and the Brutal Truths
My professional journeyālike lifeāhas been a mix of the good, the bad, and the ugly. Over the last 10 years, Iāve seen both wins and failures (if Iām being honest, more of the latter). But through it all, Iāve learned lessons that no course or LinkedIn post can teach you.
This isnāt a post filled with jargon or one-liners like āgiving back to the community.ā Maybe one day Iāll get there. For now, Iām just here to share what I do knowāraw, real, and hopefully useful for students and early-career professionals trying to find their footing.
Here are the 5 lessons that changed how I work and think:
Ignore the shiny toolsāfocus on execution.
Tools change, fundamentals donāt. Learn to get things done.
Zoom out.
Stop sweating every small task. Focus on outcomes that move the needle.
Make data speak like a human.
If your story puts people to sleep, the data doesnāt matter.
Fall in love with the right problems.
Passion is great. But direct it toward things that matter.
Donāt fear AIāmake it your lackey.
Learn just enough to command it. You donāt have to build it.
And one last thoughtāa small marketing truth I live by:
If you make a Tesla free, people might treat it like a Ford.
(No offence to eitherāboth have solid value propsābut perception shapes value.)
So yes, my time isnāt free. But itās not out of reach eitherā$15 gets you my full attention. Not too cheap to ignore, not too expensive to hesitate.
