1. It’s a two dimensional CFD model of Darrieus VAWT built on ANSYS 2023R2.

2. The CFD model is parametric, which means you are able to change almost all the parameters from Workbench which is useful in optimization studies.

3. The relationships between parameters are set to ensure the best mesh quality for most cases you may work on.

4. The file (Darrieus 2D CFD models.7z) contains the parametric models in 3 folders based on the type of trailing edge (TE) you need to work with: round, blunt or sharp. Each folder contains 8 different models based on:

Rotor only or Rotor with stator,

with Shaft or without Shaft,

with ICEM or without ICEM.

5. The model is validated against experimental results in the paper "Experimental and numerical investigation of twin vertical axis wind turbines with a deflector (2020)" and the validated runs (at 8 TSRs) are available with the Excel sheet of results.

6. Domain size, mesh and time step independence studies were performed and their 16 runs are available with the Excel sheet of results.

7. Geometry is made by DesignModeler, mesh by ANSYS Meshing and ICEM is optional as an intermediate step for enhancing mesh quality, and Fluent is the solver.
