Before even finishing high school, Akshat Bhaskar stood in Rashtrapati Bhavan to be felicitated by the President of India, Shri Droupadi Murmu, for his work on Artificial Intelligence. Akshat has spent time working around a core question: How can young people, especially in underresourced contexts, gain access to knowledge and agency that shapes their futures? On Social Innovation: Akshat founded the India Chapter of the Edunomix Institute, a US 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on financial literacy. He orchestrated nationwide essay competitions spanning 19 states, taught displaced Ukrainian students economic literacy while they rebuilt their lives, and held summer and spring camps in personal finance. His work has reached over 79,000 young Indians. As Chief Financial Officer of TaxCity, a government-recognised card game teaching tax filing and financial literacy, he led grants, revenue, and impact. TaxCity raised over $120,000 in grants, generated over 550K INR in revenue, received formal recognition from the Ministry of Education and has demystified India's fiscal system for students who had no exposure to how taxes and public finance function. On Policy: His research on AI policy, conducted under Professor Surbhi Goel (University of Pennsylvania), became a peer-reviewed, internationally published paper. Published in IJRASET (Volume 13, Issue 7, 2025), the paper was presented at the NYC STEM Research Conference, where Akshat was the only high schooler. Concurrently, he served as a Quantitative Policy Intern at the Ministry of Education, Government of India, where he contributed to internal policy analysis of the Samagra Shiksha Scheme under the leadership of Mr. Rahul Pachori, Director, a direct exposure to how India's education system is designed. On Mathematics: Akshat was admitted into the Lodha Genius Programme at Ashoka University (3% acceptance), a fully funded residential programme designed for India's most mathematically gifted students. There, he completed university-level coursework in pure mathematics while attending seminars featuring Nobel laureates. This year, he returned to the Lodha Genius Programme as an Undergraduate Mathematics Research Apprentice, where he conducted original research in number theory under Prof. Shanta Laishram (Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) Delhi), while also serving as a Teaching Assistant for the programme.
