Dr. Akhil is a plant biotechnologist turned agri entrepreneur with a strong blend of scientific training and on‑ground agribusiness experience. He began his career in academic research from Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (IICB) to get his PhD from Jadavpur University- Kolkata and Post doc from IARI Pusa New Delhi, specializing in plant biotechnology, before moving into applied, commercial agriculture.
For five years, Dr. Akhil worked in Israel as a visiting scientist at the Volcani Center, the premier research organization under the Ministry of Agriculture, where he was exposed to advanced models of precision and hi‑tech farming in arid zones. This international experience shaped his expertise in managing crops under challenging agroclimatic conditions and in designing efficient, resource‑smart production systems.
Currently, he leads Eden Horticulture Services, his own consulting firm that develops turnkey commercial agriculture projects for corporate clients and progressive farmers across India. Through this venture, he integrates scientific know‑how with practical business planning, covering both pre‑harvest and post‑harvest components to build sustainable and profitable agri‑business models.
Dr. Akhil is also the founder of Meta Crop Agri Pvt Ltd, a company focusing on contract farming in Ladakh and other difficult environments for major multinational food chains such as McDonald’s, Burger King and Subway. Leveraging his wide experience in precision farming and hi‑tech agriculture, and his work in regions like Kutch and Leh, he has demonstrated how modern technology, careful planning and strong supply‑chain understanding can transform harsh landscapes into reliable sources of high‑quality produce. He has expertise in project feasibility study of greenhouse cultivation, organic farming, hydroponics, medicinal plants and several new buzzing farming technologies in social media and YouTube.
He is alum of Israel Asia Center-Jerusalem and having several international collaborations in Netherland, Israel, Thailand, Nepal, Vietnam and Taiwan. He is also Editor in chief of EDEN HORTI Magazine.
