About me
My work is centered around AI, optimization, and computer networks, with a special focus on applying these technologies to real-world challenges like wildfire prediction, natural resource management, and optimizing digital infrastructures. I earned my Ph.D. in Computer Science from Wroclaw University of Technology in Poland, where I was awarded multiple Dean Awards for excellence in research. Since 2017, I’ve been a research faculty member in the Department of Computing at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). I've helped shape key programs and mentored students working on impactful projects such as using drones and AI to predict and prevent wildfires. As Program Coordinator for the Industry Sponsored Student Project Program, my role has allowed me to collaborate with over 100 industry partners, helping bring innovative solutions to life. In addition to my research and teaching at BCIT, I actively support digital and IT education, mentoring trainers to develop expertise in IT, programming, and project management. I seek to solve problems through technology daily, whether by developing cutting-edge algorithms or guiding students and startups in turning their ideas into impactful solutions.
I focus on artificial intelligence and computer vision, strongly emphasizing drone applications. I develop practical, technology-based solutions for real-world challenges such as natural resource management, healthcare, and aircraft inspections.
I am dedicated to advancing AI beyond my own projects. I actively mentor AI startups by advising on technical strategies, funding options, and the steps needed to bring ideas to market. Helping new founders turn their concepts into reality, even when facing research and development challenges, is a key part of my work.
From using drones to help prevent wildfires to creating smarter nurse scheduling systems in healthcare, my goal is to use AI and computer vision to make a tangible impact. Whether I am developing algorithms for drone inspections or advising emerging companies, I remain focused on applying advanced technology to address urgent, practical issues.
