About me
I am a development sector professional with over a decade of experience, working with philanthropic funders, global and local non-profits, multilateral donors, and businesses with a purpose. But that's my day job (and my LinkedIn profile has more details, if that's what you are looking for).
I am from India, but am currently based out of the UK.
Over the last few years since my own MBA (which had a social impact focus), I started to 'mentor' friends, colleagues, and impact professionals who wanted to apply for development jobs or higher education degrees. And for someone who finds the idea of 'networking' terrifying, I found that through these mentoring sessions, I could meet a lot of people with common goals, from whom I could also learn interesting things that would make me better at my day job.
So now I consult with three groups of people for such mentoring sessions:
**** Group 1 : If you are a development sector professional looking to apply for a new job / internship or respond to an RFP / ToR as a consultant, and are looking for CV or resume reviews , cover letter reviews, interview preparation support, or proposal ideation support.
#Why I can help : I have this experience from two vantage points : As an applicant myself, I have consistently had a very decent shortlist as well as win-rate for roles I have wanted to pursue, right from local roles with non-profits in India to global roles with the likes of the UN. I have also reviewed applications and conducted interviews in the hundreds as a part of leadership roles in impact focused organizations.
**** Group 2 : If you are a development sector professional looking to submit a college application for higher education, and are looking for college essay reviews, or a discussion about how to craft the college essays to begin with. (No I will not write the essays for you, nor will I correct typos or grammar - though I WILL tell you if your writing hygiene is appalling!)
#Why I can help : I wrote my own essays for diverse degrees that I was accepted to - from an Oxbridge admit offer for the Oxford MBA (which I pursued on a full merit scholarship - and yes, I can help with scholarship essays too!) to an Ivy League admit offer for a STEM Masters in quantitative research methods at Columbia University (which I ultimately didn't pursue for personal reasons). I have also done college essay reviews for development sector candidates who were selected for very diverse degrees at top-tier universities - from an MBA at Oxford in the UK, to a Masters in Education at the University of Pennsylvania in the US.
**** Group 3 : If you are an MBA aspirant (though not from the development sector), and are looking for college essay reviews and CV reviews from someone OTHER than a person in your own sector. This lens is a critical one to have, since this is how you will find out if your writing is too jargon-y or your professional narrative is too confusing for someone who is not from your own industry (just as your MBA review panelists at the business school might not be).
#Why I can help : I have successfully performed such 'outsider-lens' reviews for MBA applicants who were selected to top-tier MBA programs across different geographies - from Yale in the US, to INSEAD in Europe, to ISB in India. (P.S. I am not claiming that my essay review was the 'cause' of their selection to these programs, but it did 'help' them, as per their own feedback). I have performed such reviews in an independent capacity, and also as a technical consultant to an MBA-admissions consulting firm.
Consultation fees charged:
- Category A : I offer FREE consultation if you are part of any of my alma maters or alumni groups i.e. Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies, Oxford Said Business School, Gandhi Fellowship, and Weidenfeld Hoffman Scholarship program. Please send a priority DM at no cost, before booking a call.
- CATEGORY B : I offer some FREE sessions per month as part of my pro-bono work, to anyone who cannot afford my fee. This would typically be someone from an economically disadvantaged background, but could also be someone who is finding it hard to pay my fee for other reasons. If my pro-bono quota in a month is already over, I can accomodate you in the next month. Please send a priority DM at no cost, before booking a call.
- CATEGORY C : For everyone else who does not belong to the other two categories, I have an hourly rate on the cards, which is fair for my experience and the value I hope to add. You are free to request a full or partial refund if you do not feel like I added the value you were expecting.
So please feel free to book a slot!
