About me

I have trained in Psychosocial Clinical Studies from Ambedkar University, Delhi. I work with adults experiencing concerns around emotional overwhelm, anxiety, depression, grief & loss, relationships and family. I offer a judgement-free space with a balance of empathetic and analytical approach to work through emotional distress. I especially value the role of building a therapeutic relationship with clients, flexibility of working with evolving needs of individuals, welcoming all thoughts, emotions that may come up and providing a safe and inquisitive environment to understand themselves better. In a previous life, I graduated as a software engineer, went to IIM Indore for MBA and worked in consulting, technology and marketing with a couple of MNCs.

Frequently asked questions

How much does therapy cost in India?

Therapy costs in India vary widely depending on the therapist's qualifications, experience, session length, and whether you choose in-person or online sessions. Online therapy is generally more affordable than clinic-based therapy, and multi-session packages (such as 4-session or 8-session plans) usually bring the per-session cost down. If you want clarity before committing, start with a short discovery call to understand the fit and the fee structure.

Is online therapy expensive?

Not necessarily. Online therapy often costs less than in-person therapy, and many counselling psychologists keep the entry point low with a brief call or a discovery call so you can start small before committing to regular sessions. For ongoing concerns, booking a package of sessions typically works out cheaper per session than paying for one-off appointments.

How do I find affordable online therapy in India?

Compare per-session rates and package pricing rather than judging by the headline fee alone, and check that the therapist is a qualified mental health professional. Low-cost starting points like a brief call or discovery call let you test the fit, and 4- or 8-session packages reduce the overall cost if you plan to continue. Most importantly, affordability should not come at the cost of comfort — you need a space where you feel safe opening up.

Is free online therapy in India a good option?

Free options — helplines, support communities, one-time chats — can be a useful first step, but they are rarely enough for ongoing concerns like anxiety, depression, grief or relationship distress, which need consistent sessions with a qualified professional. A practical middle path is to start with a low-cost brief call or discovery session and then move into regular online sessions or a package if it feels right.

What is anxiety therapy?

Anxiety therapy is structured, talk-based counselling that helps you understand what triggers your anxiety, how your thoughts and body respond, and how to break the cycle. Working with a counselling psychologist, you learn to recognise anxious thought patterns, build coping skills and gradually reduce the hold anxiety has on your day-to-day life — all within a judgement-free space where nothing you say is "wrong".

How to get therapy for anxiety?

You don't need a referral or a formal diagnosis to start. Choose a qualified counselling psychologist whose profile matches what you're going through, book a short discovery call to check whether you feel comfortable with them, and then begin regular online sessions — many people choose a 4- or 8-session package so the work has continuity instead of stopping after one conversation.

How does counselling help with anxiety?

Counselling helps you slow down anxious thought loops, understand your triggers and learn practical ways to calm your mind and body. Common anxiety counselling techniques include questioning catastrophic thoughts, grounding and breathing exercises, and gradually facing situations you've been avoiding — always at a pace you're comfortable with. With consistent sessions, anxiety usually becomes far more manageable, and clients often report a noticeable drop in anxiety levels within the first few sessions.

Should I look for anxiety counselling near me or book online?

Searching for anxiety counselling near me limits you to therapists in your locality, while anxiety counselling online lets you choose from qualified professionals across India and attend sessions from home — which matters on days when even travelling feels heavy. What actually predicts a good outcome is the therapist's training and how safe you feel with them, so use a discovery call to judge the fit rather than the distance.

How do I choose the best online therapy in India?

Look past brand names and check the essentials: relevant qualifications in psychology or counselling, experience with your specific concern (anxiety, depression, grief, relationships), honest client testimonials, and an approach that feels empathetic as well as analytical. The therapeutic relationship matters more than any platform, so book a discovery call and see how heard you feel. It also helps when the counsellor understands your world — for instance, Abhilasha worked in consulting and marketing before becoming a counselling psychologist, which many clients dealing with work stress find reassuring.

Where can I find honest reviews of online therapy in India?

Start with verified testimonials on the therapist's own profile and the platform they list on, then look at candid discussions on forums like Reddit, where people share unfiltered experiences of therapy. Remember that reviews describe someone else's fit — the most reliable test is your own comfort, and a short discovery call will tell you more than any review section.

How much does anxiety therapy cost?

Anxiety therapy usually costs the same as a standard therapy session, because fees depend on the therapist's qualifications and session length rather than the concern being discussed. If budget is a concern, look for a counsellor who offers a lower-cost brief call as a starting point, and ask about session packages, which reduce the per-session rate for continued work.

How to cure depression?

Depression is not something to cure through willpower alone — it is a treatable condition, and reaching out for help is the strongest first step. Talk therapy with a counselling psychologist helps you work through the thoughts and emotions behind the low mood, while sleep, movement, sunlight and staying connected support recovery. If symptoms are severe or persistent, a psychiatrist can assess whether medication is needed alongside therapy — but whatever the severity, don't try to handle it entirely alone.

What are my options for depression treatment without medicine?

Therapy is the main medicine-free option: regular sessions with a counselling psychologist give you a structured space to understand your low mood, challenge negative thought patterns and slowly rebuild day-to-day functioning. Lifestyle changes — regular sleep, movement, sunlight and social contact — make the work stick, and many people with mild to moderate depression do well with therapy alone. If your symptoms are moderate to severe, do get assessed by a psychiatrist, since medication combined with therapy is sometimes the safer route.

Does depression treatment at home really work?

"At home" should mean attending professional therapy from home, not struggling alone in isolation. Online sessions let you speak with a counselling psychologist from your own room, which helps on days when leaving the house feels impossible, and you can reinforce the work between sessions with small anchors like a daily walk, regular meals and sunlight. If you ever feel unsafe or completely unable to cope, treat that as a signal to seek immediate professional support rather than continuing at home alone.
