Reading a literary work is like being a detective - you have to read between the lines. While I can hold interesting conversations about novels, comics and movies; it is poetry that I consider food for the soul. The mimetic ability of the poetic world is immense and the emotions that may be explored are many. While Sappho says, "I would much prefer to see the lovely way she walks and the radiant glance of her face…", admiring her lover, it is certainly different from Byron's depiction of his lover in "She Walks in Beauty". While Sappho's poetry was homoerotic and therefore disruptive to the social order, Byron's poem expressed the Romantic notion of the natural feminine, reinforcing the idea that nature and woman are correlated. These two poems on the surface are merely verses complementing one's beloved, but on closer inspection, they reveal insights into the socio-political reality of their own chronology. I had identified my talent for being a literary detective early in my life and had therefore declared my undergraduate major in English Literature at Banaras Hindu University. While my undergraduate studies imbued me with an understanding of literary criticism, rhetorical devices and the history of English literature, I wanted to gain hands-on experience. I, as such, started interning for websites such as IcyTales and Parenting Bits as a content creator and strategist. During this one year of writing blog posts, I became familiar with writing SEO-friendly articles, working on WordPress and spinning out stories according to consumer preferences. My academic journey towards strengthening my conceptual knowledge of literature and creative writing has been consistent since then, and I have written various research papers during my postgraduate and MPhil degree in English Literature. As a result, my research skills have developed exponentially, as well as my integrity as an original writer. I have become acquainted with several research methodologies and writing formats, such as MLA, APA and Chicago. Not to brag! But I can make citations look easy! I am currently employed at EdNet Consultants, where I have consistently learnt about more consumer preferences than anywhere else. As a part of my regular duties, I write academic essays for ivy league universities such as Oxford and Cambridge and create email campaigns, blog posts, social media creatives and press release documents for my employer. Moreover, I have mentored several editors who joined the organization later, managing their duties and assignments in the absence of the chief-editor.
