Growing up, we lived in a one-bedroom apartment in a small town in India. Eventually, we moved out to bigger cities for better education & healthcare. Throughout this journey my mom was also battling cancer, patriarchy, and so much more but despite everything she was sure about one thing, she wouldn't let her daughter face what she had. My mom along with my dad, have worked incredibly hard to make my dreams come true. They never gave up on trying to get my brother & I, the best education possible while inculcating some intrinsic values. They taught us to always help people who had lesser than us & they taught us that no matter what we do, it should not hurt the planet. They have always encouraged me to be the best version of myself. Their support led me to volunteer with a non-profit that safeguards Indian traditional arts, crafts, & culture along with making them accessible to kids. Through this not only did I learn transferable skills of problem-solving & project management, but I also discovered that I love people & wherever I go non-profit work is going to be a big part of my life. Moving from a small town to big cities in India, & then the US came with a lot of cultural shifts, which made me persevere to overcome challenges. These have been learning and mastering a whole new language, fighting patriarchy to become the first female President at India's preeminent design university (and most importantly, not the last female president). I've also gone on to manage 300 colleges as a youth marketing intern, & I have kept on learning & growing to reach more milestones in the non-profit sector. Some of them are: fund raising to build a library for kids, leading CSR activities for corporates, organizing conventions for kids, & more. All of which have brought me to SCAD, where I've earned academic & achievement scholarships every quarter, a 4.0 GPA & worked as a Project Manager for SCAD Pro-NIKE, Deloitte Digital, Fox Sports & a team leader for Georgia Power & Derwent, and ultimately graduated with an Outstanding Academic Achievement Award for my MFA. In my current role I am working towards creating impact for BIPOC people & working in a company which along with earning profits also supports diversity & amplifies voices. I do four things really well: -Creative Strategy for Social Design -Design Thinking -Understanding, & Translating Gen Z & Gen Alpha -Empowering people around me.
