About me

Hi! I am Dr Sabeena Mathayas - a scholar-practitioner in Education Policy and Administration with experience across the policy and impact spectrum. My work in India has centred on adult learning, higher education, skill development, and systems change. As lead education specialist at the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) I oversaw the governance of 37 industry associations and the standards for skill and professional development, as well as led lighthouse technical projects with the World Bank in Jordan, Lebanon, and the Maldives. As Vice-President at Sambodhi Research and Communications, I oversaw the evaluation of the Entrepreneurship Mindset curriculum and the Business Blasters initiative for the Delhi Government; and co-led the MEL capacity building mandate with NITI Aayog’s Developmental Monitoring and Evaluation Office (DMEO) funded by BMGF. More recently, I provided strategic and technical support to Educational Testing Service (ETS) as they built out their presence in India. I continue to support global initiatives that focus on learners, primarily Indian learners and their very complex contexts. I work across India, USA, and Canada, and am spectacularly adept at cross cultural communication across time zones and sometimes, languages. Happy to discuss current clients and engagements if you think there are strategic synergies. On a personal note, I am a book-dragon or book-wyrm - which correctly means I have a hoard! I mean, I love reading and have experienced intellectual and personal grounding through books!
