My passion and expertise
• Disability inclusion in media, storytelling, organizational practices and all kinds of content. Framing, accurate portrayal, representation and what not.
• Accessibility in communications, including social media.
• Gender inclusion and equitable representation.
• Solutions journalism that drives impact and reframes issues.
I love helping individuals and organizations engage with these themes and start conversations that lead to meaningful change.
1. If you are a journalist, I can guide you to report on the disability community and other marginalized communities with accuracy, respect, and depth. I can also help you explore solutions journalism to make your storytelling impactful and audience-focused.
2. If you are an organization, I can support you in embedding disability and gender inclusion into your communications strategies, policies, and content. Together, we can develop practical, accessible solutions for inclusion.
3. If you are a storyteller, a filmmaker, author, or creator, I can help you authentically represent disability as diversity, moving beyond stereotypes and making deeper connections with your audience.
4. If you are an academic, I can assist in making your research findings accessible and inclusive, ensuring they resonate with diverse audiences.
5. If you are a communications or PR professional, I can help you design campaigns and messaging that champion inclusion, accessibility, and equity while building trust with your audience.
6. If you are a media leader or newsroom professional, I’d love to work with you on embedding disability inclusion in your editorial processes, showing how inclusive practices enhance your journalism’s value and reach.
More about me:
I’m an independent storyteller, journalist, researcher and trainer with over 16 years of experience reporting and storytelling on human rights, development, inequality and social justice. A lot of my work focuses on education and global health and its intersections with disability and gender. Disability inclusion is my top expertise, informed by my research as a Fellow at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at the University of Oxford and my ongoing work through Reframing Disability, a newsletter dedicated to shifting narratives about disability and promoting equity.
In addition to disability inclusion, I’m also an accredited trainer of Gender Equality Diversity and Inclusion, and Solutions Journalism, helping organizations and individuals—journalists, storytellers, communication and PR professionals, content creators, advocates and individuals from all professions—craft respectful, impactful, and inclusive narratives and make their content accessible.
Whether you’re an organization embedding inclusion into your practices or an individual refining your storytelling, I provide tailored coaching to guide you in making inclusion a central part of your work. Let’s collaborate to move beyond stereotypes and build stories that perpetuate equity and diversity.
