Loved that we ended the call feeling I found an expert and a friend rolled into one. It was a conversation I needed at this point in my career. Thanks to Baishaki I have a plan I am excited to execute. She gave me a structure with estimated timelines (like the pro that she is) as well as watch-outs and what success could look like. Above all, I was pleasantly surprised by the morale boost. Hope her team who get to interact with her regularly know how lucky they are to have her as their leader. Lucky that I found her on LinkedIn!

About me

When I migrated to Australia 16 years ago, recruiters told me I was unemployable without local experience. No one recognised the elite educational institutions I went to, or the Indian employers I had. That first year was HARD! The second job was easier to get than the first one, but it took me nearly 3 years to realise how significantly underpaid I was relative to my Australian peers and fight to correct it. I did though, and never looked back. I have since spent many years of leading, building and scaling up teams in Australia. I can now understand the hiring manager's fears, and biases, from personal experience. I am one of the few women of colour at leadership level at a large Australian corporate, and I am proud to be on the steering committee of the cultural diversity council. I have published numerous articles on LinkedIn and have over 26k followers. I am often on panels or podcasts, and have presented to university students looking for clarity in their career journey. I sit on the Board of a Not for Profit organisation, and actively volunteer in the local community. Hand on heart, I now feel like I BELONG here. I can command my space. There are many things I did right in that search for a first job in Australia. There are also many things I could have done better. Work with me to understand how you can land on your feet in Australia as a new migrant, learn how to belong in this new country, negotiate for yourself, and present with confidence. Work with me to learn from my failures and learn from my successes.
